Abu Treika responds to seizure of his property

Former renowned Ahly Club and national team football player Mohamed Abu Treika responded in a tweet on Thursday evening to a decision to seize his properties saying he would not leave Egypt.

"We are the ones who bring the money to be in our hands, not in our hearts," Abu Treika wrote. "Seize the money or seize whatever. I will not leave the country, will work in it, and will work on its advancement."

The committee tasked with appraising and freezing the funds of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group in Egypt has announced Thursday it had seized eight tourism companies, including "Ashab Tours" company, partially owned by Abu Treika.

A decision was issued later to seize Abu Treika's properties against the backdrop of a larger seizure citing his alleged links to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The decision sparked wide controversy on social networking websites.
