Ahmed Diab reveals his 1st move after requesting lifting of immunity

A member of the Egyptian Senate and head of the Egyptian Professional League, Ahmed Diab, revealed a new step regarding lifting his parliamentary immunity, which came at his request.

Diab said in exclusive statements to Al-Masry Al-Youm: “The personal lawyer will follow up on all the legal details and head to the Public Prosecution’s office to take over the matter.”

He stressed: “I will remain silent during the coming period and will not make any statements out of respect for the official authorities, and until the investigations are completed.”

Diab added that he will attend Senate sessions normally during the coming period, adding: “Lifting immunity does not interfere with performing the parliamentary role.”

“The false and vague accusations have exhausted me over the past months, especially regarding the crisis of our late player Ahmed Refaat.”

MP Mohamed Shawky, the deputy of the Legislative Committee in the Senate, announced during the Senate session on Sunday the approval to lift parliamentary immunity from Diab, and take the necessary measures to investigate him in the case of the death of player Ahmed Refaat.

Senate Speaker Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek also announced that Diab is setting an exceptional rule by requesting to lift his immunity to reveal the truth away from any suspicion.
