Al-Ahly to withdraw from Super Cup if Kahraba is suspended

Journalist Hisham Amir announced Al-Ahly would withdraw from the Super Cup if Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba is suspended.

Kahraba was punished by the Disciplinary Committee of the Egyptian Football Association for committing several violations.

The Disciplinary Committee of the Football Association earlier suspended the Al-Ahly striker for 12 matches and fine him one million pounds, ahead of the Al-Ahly- Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup.

Al-Ahly appealed the punishment and is awaiting a decision.

According to Amir, Kahraba will participate in the match Super Cup, and the appeal committee will not take any decision regarding the penalty before the Egyptian Super Cup match.

“If a decision is issued by the appeal committee upholding the suspension of Kahraba before the Egyptian Super Cup match, Al-Ahly Club will not play the match,” he said.

Al-Ahly is scheduled to face its traditional rival, Zamalek Club, on Friday, May 5, in the UAE, at 7:30 pm Cairo time.

The club recently qualified to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, at the expense of Moroccan Raja.

Al-Ahly thus will face ES Tunis, in the semi-finals, where the first leg will be held on Sunday, May 14, in Tunisia, and the return match in Cairo a week later.
