Indian cinema icon Amitabh Bachchan is expected in Cairo at the end of March as a honorary guest in an Indian cultural festival, hosted for the third time by the Egyptian capital.
“I will be in Cairo at the end of March to inaugurate the third edition of the Indian cultural festival, "India by the Nile”, Bachchan said in a video message to his Egyptian fans.
Bachchan described the festival, scheduled for 31 March-17 April as “a three-week long extravaganza of music, dance, film, conversations and exhibitions”, that will expose the "extraordinary diversity of India's culture".
The Maulana Azad Center for Indian Culture is scheduled to hold a press conference for the Indian star at the Marriot Hotel in Cairo on 31 March. Bachchan is expected to inaugurate the screenings at the Giza Pyramids area.
Bachchan’s latest visit to Cairo was in 1991.
