CAIRO, Dec 4 (MENA) – Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Chairman Mokhtar Abdel Latif has stressed that the organization is keen to expand in concluding contracts with different sisterly countries during the Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX 2023).
Speaking during the activities of the first day of the EDEX 2023, he said on Monday that several official delegations of sisterly countries are keen to participate in the event and visit the AOI pavilion.
The defense ministers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burkina Faso and key military officials from Zimbabwe, Qatar, Yemen and Pakistan visited the AOI pavilion and praised the organization’s high-quality products, according to him.
The AOI aims to cement cooperation and expand in establishing partnerships with world’s leading organizations and companies in the field of defense industries during the expo, he added.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended the inauguration of the third edition of the Egypt Defense Expo on Monday morning.
Representatives of Egyptian and international companies specialized in defense industries are showcasing their advanced equipment, technology and security systems at the exhibition.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, as well as several ministers and senior state officials, attended the inauguration of the EDEX 2023.
A documentary, “Will & Challenge”, was played at EDEX, highlighting achievements of the Egyptian Navy over the years.
It also focused on the local military industrialization that helped enhance the armament capabilities of the Egyptian naval forces.
The documentary highlighted the establishment of the Alexandria Shipyard (ASY) during the era of Mohamed Ali, pointing to industrial leaps the company has achieved throughout its history.
The ASY is a leading company in joint military industrialization, the film showed, noting that the “Gowind” frigates are one of the fruitful results reached in cooperation with France.
Working with Germany, the ASY manufactured another type of frigates, the MEKO A-200, according to the documentary. (MENA)
