The armed forces agreed to increase the number of ferries to facilitate the movement of Sinai people in the Suez Canal and to revise sentences issued in absentia against many of Sinai residents.
Salah Salam, a member of the National Council for Human Rights, met with Major General Ahmed Wasfy, the commander of the Second Field Army, at one of the security headquarters in Arish to discuss the problems of North Sinai residents regarding the procedures of transit in the Suez Canal and rulings issued against some of them in absentia.
Salam said Wasfy agreed to increase the number of ferries operating between Sinai and the west of the Suez Canal. Wasfy promised to add four other ferries at Fardan area and to open al-Salam bridge gradually to facilitate the movement of Sinai residents.
Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi agreed also to form a committee to compensate all those affected in the recent military operations in North Sinai.
The armed forces agreed to revise the rulings issued in absentia against 602 Sinai people, according to Salam.
