Army sends reinforcements to secure Sharm el-Sheikh roads

Egypt’s Third Field Army sent additional troops on Monday to security points along the road leading to Sharm el-Sheikh.

Authorities deployed border guards in the area's mountainous regions to secure them.

On Thursday, six Egyptian military and security personnel were shot dead by Israeli gunfire at the border area between Egypt and Israel.

The armed forces, in cooperation with police, are currently carrying out "Operation Eagle" in Sinai to control what security forces described as "terrorist cells and groups."

Military sources meanwhile said the heads of the Third Field Army and Sinai tribes will meet to discuss means of securing the rugged areas of Sinai and to control armed rebels and outlaws.
