Astronomist: May celebrates ‘silver pockets full’ phenomenon

Dr. Ashraf Tadros of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) said this May will have five Fridays, five Saturdays and five Sundays, a phenomenon that the Chinese call “silver pockets full” and that is repeated every 823 years.

He said Friday comes on May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, Saturday on May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, and Sunday on May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, adding that there will be 10 instead of 8 days off this month.

According to the ancient Chinese tale, he who spreads the word about the phenomenon will fill his pockets with money, and he who does not will become poor.

Tadros said the phenomenon will take place again in 2837 when the month is 31 days and begins with a Friday.
