‘Barbie’ film to premiere in Egypt on August 30

The director of a cinematic distribution company Safwat al-Helbawy announced Monday that the movie “Barbie” (2023) will be released in Egypt on August 30, and that rumors of Egypt banning it are untrue.

The 114-minute Barbie movie raised many questions about possibly being banned in Egyptian theaters, due to the 18+ scenes it contains.

Safwat told Al-Masry Al-Youm, that he contacted the distributor of the film in Egypt Shadi Antoine Zand and later assured him that the movie will be released in a large number of Egyptian theaters.

The film stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling alongside Ariana Greenblatt, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emma Mackey Hari Nef, and Will Ferrell.

Based on Mattel’s popular line of dolls, the movie takes place in a world called ‘Barbie Land’ and follows the comedic exploits of its colorful inhabitants.
