The Interior Ministry on Tuesday carried out an Administrative Court ruling that was issued a year and a half ago to remove the concrete barriers in the Garden City district around the American and British embassies.
The residents and shop owners of the area, who had filed lawsuits to have the barriers removed, were happy with the decision.
“The ministry had estimated the cost of removing the barriers for the embassies to bear but took no further action,” said lawyer Samir Sabry. “When we filed another lawsuit against the minister himself, the court order was implemented.”
“I had to lay off my workers and close down the shop when customers no longer came to my bazaar,” said a shop owner, adding, “Bless you Morsy.”
