Beblawy government not entitled to issue new laws: Nour Party

The head of the Salafi-oriented Nour Party Younis Makhyoun said that the current government is transitional and does not have the right to issue new legislation.

On Thursday Makhyoun criticized the stance of the National Salvation Front: "When the front was in opposition in the past [during Morsy's time as president], it criticized the legislation of the Shura (council), claiming that the people did not elect that council and it does not have the right to legislate."

Makhyoun, speaking during an interview with Fath newspaper, said his party rejects all new laws introduced by the new government because they violate one of the most important gains of the revolution – freedom.

He explained that existing laws can control what is described as "terrorist acts." As for the law on protests, the Nour Party has called for the draft to be held until a parliament can properly discuss it, Makhyoun added.
