On Monday evening, the Financial and Commercial Affairs Prosecution in Alexandria ordered the detention of famous model and blogger, Salma Elshimy, for four days pending investigations on charges of publishing inappropriate content in exchange for financial gain and misusing social media platforms.
Her actions were considered an undermining of the values of the Egyptian society.
According to police investigations, Salma Elshimy’s accounts on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube broadcast video clips that offend public morality and modesty.
Shimy was arrested on Monday, at Cairo International Airport, while returning on Flight No. 925 coming from the UAE.
Shimy was deported from Cairo to the Dekheila Police Station in Alexandria, her place of residence, where investigations with her were completed by the Financial and Commercial Affairs Prosecution.
