A stun grenade exploded outside the Alexandria Security Directorate on Sunday, spreading panic among passersby.
Alexandria's chief police investigator, Nasser al-Abd, said that the persons responsible for planting the bomb is yet unknown but added that no injuries or damage had occurred as a result of the expolsion.
Abd said that though the directorate enjoys intensified security measures, the blast occurred outside the civil registry. He said efforts are being made to comb the area to search for perpetrators.
