Brotherhood to compete for 40% of parliamentary seats

The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party will compete for more than 40 percent of parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections, leading party member Azab Mostafa has said.

He also said the party is fielding candidates that are not members of the Brotherhood.

“We brought down our competition from 50 to 40 percent after we joined the Democratic Coalition,” he explained.

Four months ago the Brotherhood said it would compete for more than 49 percent of the total 504 seats.
