Brotherhood demands cancelation of pre-revolution travel bans

Abdel Moneim Abdel Maksoud, a lawyer for the Muslim Brotherhood, demanded that travel ban lists be cancelled in a memorandum to the Supreme Council of Armed Forces and Minister of Interior Mansour al-Essawy.

He said that some security members are still applying the policies of the former regime, especially regarding enforcement of travel bans.

Abdel Maksoud added that some people remain on the lists although no court has ruled that they cannot leave the country.

Meanwhile, Montaser al-Zyyat, a lawyer representing other Islamic groups, also submitted a complaint to Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud, asking that he remove about 50,000 names from the lists as they belong to figures politically opposed to the former regime. Al-Zyyat said that officers of the dissolved State Security Investigative Services continue to enforce travel bans.
