The Muslim Brotherhood warned of schemes to assault demonstrators opposed to President Mohamed Morsy in Tahrir Square and in front of the Ettihadeya Presidential Palace, pointing to plotters who aim to falsely accuse Islamists of carrying out the attacks.
"We received information that there is a scheme to assault demonstrators in Tahrir Square and in front of the Ettihadeya Palace [in order] to attribute these criminal acts to the Muslim Brotherhood, incite against them, and spread sedition in the country," the group said in a statement Tuesday.
The Muslim Brotherhood condemns the plot, added the statement.
The Muslim Brotherhood stressed its members are against violence.
"We seek to revive an atmosphere of intimacy, cooperation and piety among all Egyptians," the Brotherhood statement stressed.
The Muslim Brotherhood has called for a healthy democratic climate in Egypt, adding that disagreements should be resolved through reason and logic, not violence.
