CAF postpones Champions league, Confederation Cup until further notice

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Saturday postponed the CAF Champions league and CAF Confederation Cup until further notice.

A CAF statement explained that the CAF Emergency Committee made this decision in light of growing concerns of the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown in most countries.

“A new schedule will be announced in due time,” the CAF said.

The statement added that the decision concerns the Total CAF Champions league and the Total CAF Confederation Cup Semi-final’s matches, both previously scheduled for May 1-3 and May 8-10.

The FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup Qualifiers, initially scheduled for May 1-3 and May 13-17 will also be postponed until further notice.

The CAF said it is monitoring the situation closely and working with relevant authorities such as the World Health Organization on the impact of the virus in Africa.

Zamalek, Ahly, Wydad AC, and al-Raja qualified for the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

And the Pyramids, RS Berkane, Hassania Agadir and Horoya AC teams qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup’s semi-finals.
