Egyptian film "Chaos, Disorder" (Harag w' Marag) has received the grand prize at the seventh Oran Film Festival.
The film tied with the Syrian film "Mariam," directed by Basil al-Khatib.
"Chaos, Disorder" is the first feature film by director Nadine Khan. It premiered in Cairo three months ago after it received recognition from a number of international film festivals.
The film stars Ayten Amer, Mohamed Farrag and Ramzy Liner. It tells the story of a love triangle set in a fantasy world.
Moroccan film "Les Mecreants," directed by Mohsen al-Basry, was also awarded the Jury Prize.
The best actress award was a tie between Lebanese Yara Abou Haidar and Tahany Salloum from Jordan, while the best actor award went to Tunisian actor Fathi al-Hadawy.
