Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Sameh al-Hanafy held a meeting on Thursday with a delegation from the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), one of the largest contracting and investment companies in the world.
The meeting came in line with the Egyptian state’s goal to enhance the private sector’s involvement within the development plans implemented by the state, as part of a series of meetings held by the Civil Aviation Minister with officials of major international companies specialized in infrastructure projects to improve services for travelers through Egyptian airports.
The meeting also comes out of the strategic relations between Egypt and China, following coordination meetings recently held on the sidelines of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum summit in the Chinese capital, Beijing, between the Egyptian government and China.
A statement by the Egyptian Cabinet on Thursday said that the meeting discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the Egyptian civil aviation sector and the Chinese company regarding related projects linked to the development of some Egyptian airports.
China’s side presented an explanatory presentation on the proposed designs and ideas for the development of the Cairo and Hurghada international airports, which would upgrade the Egyptian airport system to match the largest international airports in terms of the quality and diversity of services provided.
Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister praised the joint cooperation relations between both sides, expressing his appreciation for the great role of the Chinese company in implementing different national projects inside Egypt due to its international expertise in the field of construction and building.
He referred to the eagerness of the Civil Aviation Ministry to study all proposals submitted by the Chinese side accurately and comprehensively, as well as to discuss ways of reaching agreement on future steps related to these projects.
The CSCEC representative stressed the company’s readiness to provide the necessary support and expertise to implement ambitious projects within the Egyptian civil aviation sector, thereby enhancing Egypt’s position as an attractive tourist and investment destination.
