A citizen committed suicide on Saturday in Qobba metro station. He threw himself in front of the train as it entered the station and died immediately.
Mohamed al-Sheimy, chairman of the Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation said the man jumped on Saturday at 5 pm and it was impossible for the driver to stop the train in time.
He said the incident was reported at the police station and eyewitnesses testified, but the identity of the man and the reason behind the suicide are as yet unknown.
Sheimy said train movement returned normal after the man's body was taken away.
