Committee formed to investigate 300 nepotism cases with railways sector: minister

A committee has been formed to investigate 300 suspected nepotism cases with the railways sector,  Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel al-Wazir, said, during a telephone interview to  “On My Responsibility” program with journalist Ahmed Moussa  on Tuesday.

The head of the Railways Authority was dismissed because he agreed to nepotism, in violation of the law.

Any official who violated the laws established for railways will be sacked immediately, he added.

In response to Moussa’s question about whether the head of the Railways Authority would be dismissed because of his daughter’s appointment, Wazir  clarified that the head of the Railways Authority did not pick his daughter, but because he agreed to appoint others in violation of the law.

He also said that the first and second ranks of the railway leaders were changed to inject new blood into the sector.
