Nabih Maroun, executive vice-president of the Booz Allen Hamilton consulting agency in the Middle East and North Africa, said initial studies for the new capital project showed the project could be enforceable and has the required political support.
Maroun, vice-president of the firm that will implement the project, told Al-Masry Al-Youm the project was still in the planning stage, with regards to facilities, roads, airports and related infrastructure.
Work on the project will start in no less than 6 months, he added.
When asked about the reasons for establishing the Capital City company, a subsidiary of the Emaar Properties real estate company, to implement the new capital project, Maroun said Emaar Properties is an economic reconstruction company that seeks profit, while the new capital project aims to serve the Egyptian economy and not gain profit.
The project will create a different quality of life in Egypt and help get rid of the congestion in the capital, Maroun added.
He pointed out that similar projects succeeded in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
