Sharm el-Sheikh Airport on Tuesday received 153 tourists from Copenhagen on a newly-launched direct flight to Sharm el-Sheikh by Air Cairo Co., said Yasser al-Ramly, Chairman of Air Cairo.
Ramly added that Air Cairo is working to increase its air fleet to up to 10 aircrafts by the end of 2017. The company currently serves 16 cities in 10 European countries, as well as 8 cities in 5 Arab countries.
Air Cairo operates 115 weekly flights from 10 airports in Egypt, including 65 trips to European cities and 50 trips to Middle Eastern cities. Last week Air Cairo launched its first flight from Armenia to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, Ramly pointed out.
In related news, Marsa Alam Airport received on Sunday its first flight from Dusseldorf, carrying 320 passengers, by German airliner Azur Air.
A second Azur Air flight from Dusseldorf arrived in Hurghada Airport, carrying 318 passengers.
Sameh Bashady, head of Azur Air’s Hurghada office, said that two weekly flights are planned from Dusseldorf on the new route, one to Marsa Alam and the other to Hurghada, adding that another flight-path from Berlin will be organized in October.
