Court releases defendants in ‘pro-legitimacy alliance’ case

Cairo Criminal Court released Wednesday the defendants in the case publicly known as the "Pro-Legitimacy Alliance case" without bail.

The defendants, who were accused of inciting violence, are Mahmoud Shaaban, Magdy Hussein and seven others who belong mostly to the Salafi movement.

The prosecutor challenged the release decision.

The case is tied to the Anti-Coup Alliance, or the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, which was a coalition formed by Islamists against the ouster of toppled President Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
