The Administrative Court of the State Council ruled Sunday that it lacks jurisdiction to consider a lawsuit demanding to cancel the ruling of another court that allowed members of the dissolved National Democratic Party to run in the presidential elections.
Cairo Court of Urgent Matters had earlier banned members of the dissolved NDP from running in presidential, parliamentary and municipality elections in accordance with the state council's decision to disband the party in April 2011, following the revolt that ousted its chairman, former president Hosni Mubarak.
Nabil Bibawy Luka, a lawyer and former member of the dissolved National Democratic Party, filed a lawsuit asking for the cancelation of the ruling of the court of urgent matters which banned leaders of the party from exercising their political rights including to run for the next parliamentary elections.
Egypt has not specified a date yet to hold its first parliamentary elections following the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy and the approval of a new constitution in January 2014.
