Deputy Prime Minister Ali al-Selmy is recovering after having minor surgery, the government said in an online statement Wednesday.
Selmy hit his head while getting out of his car and had surgery to remove a blood clot caused by the accident, according to the statement.
Selmy is in charge of several projects, such as creating a bill of principles stipulating how a new constitution will be drafted after November's parliamentary elections.
Liberal and secular powers fear parliamentary elections will go to an Islamist majority that will be able to monopolize the drafting of the new constitution.
Several Islamist parties have rejected the proposed constitutional principles, saying the bill is an attempt to override the Constitutional Declaration issued in March.
