EFA awaits CAF response to transfer Ethiopia match away

Ehab el-Koumi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association, said, on Monday, that the EFA is waiting for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to respond to the request to transfer the match against Ethiopia in the African Nations qualifiers outside its land.

Koumi denied the existence of a crisis within the Board of Directors of the EFA due to the appointment of Ehab Galal as coach of the first national team.

Koumi said, in radio statements via “On Sports”: “The talk about a crisis for Hazem Imam and Mohamed Barakat with Ehab Jalal is incorrect, as the matter was misinterpreted.”

He continued, “There was a session between the trio to discuss technical matters, and the official and friendly matches that the team will play in the next stage.”

He also added that “After the Guinea match, there will be a friendly match for Egypt, and the team will play a tournament in Kuwait, with the participation of Italy and Belgium.”

Koumi continued, “We asked to face Ethiopia in the African qualifiers outside its land, due to the lack of oxygen and the lack of accreditation of the stadiums there … and we are waiting for CAF’s response.”
