EGX Chairman named head of ASEA capital markets standards committee

The Executive Committee of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) has chosen Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Chairman Mohamed Omran to be the head of the capital markets standards committee, tasked with standardizing the criteria on which African stock markets depend to issue their statistics.

Omran has attributed his selection for the post to the progress made in the infrastructure of the EGX, asserting the necessity of developing unified standards for the African stock markets to attract more foreign investments to the continent.

The committee will embark on developing a standard framework for the African stock markets according to the international, agreed upon standards, Omran added.
