Egypt announces Eid al-Adha holiday schedule for banks

The Central Bank of Egypt has announced the suspension of operations across all commercial banks operating in the local market in observance of Arafat Day and Eid al-Adha for the Hijri year 1447.

The official holiday schedule:

  • Holiday start date: The closure will commence on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
  • Holiday end date: The holiday will run through Sunday, May 31, 2026.
  • Resumption of business: Banks will reopen to the public and resume normal operations on Monday, June 1, 2026.

According to the official statement issued by the Central Bank, this closure aligns with the state’s official public holiday schedule for Eid celebrations.

To ensure citizen cash requirements are met seamlessly throughout the holiday period, ATMs will remain fully operational and regularly stocked across all networks.
