Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty said that Egypt firmly rejects any unilateral actions related to Nile waters, stressing that no Nile Basin country has the right to take individual measures outside the framework of international law.
Abdelatty said Egypt shares the position expressed by US President Donald Trump on the need to avoid unilateral solutions and adhere to the principles of prior notification and avoiding harm.
He added that Egypt remains open to cooperation with Nile Basin countries to develop water resources based on shared benefits.
The top diplomat said that President Sisi will send a message to President Trump expressing appreciation for his stance and reaffirming Egypt’s position on water security.
In his message, Sisi will affirm the importance of continued engagement that takes into account the concerns of downstream countries, especially Egypt and Sudan. (MENA)
