Egyptian and French naval forces implemented a naval exercise at an Egyptian Red Sea naval base on Sunday with the participation of the French warship “COURBET” and several Egyptian naval units, stated Egyptian army spokesman Tamer al-Refeai.
Refeai added that the exercise contained formations for sailing during day and night, while demonstrating the ability of participating naval units to take positions with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
The two countries’ naval forces also carried out dry air defense and artillery shooting exercises to provide protection for the naval units while sailing through dangerous areas.
The naval forces also implemented a scenario to counter threats against maritime security, including the terrorist acts, protecting an important cargo ship and exercising the right of to visit and inspect suspicious ships.
