Egypt, Oman discuss de-escalation in Yemen

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted the importance of de-escalation in Yemen, reducing tensions and achieving an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue to reach a comprehensive settlement to the crisis away from any unilateral measures to contribute to security and stability for the brotherly Yemeni people.

This came during a phone call held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, between Abdelatty and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries.

In the call, Abdelatty underscored the importance of reducing escalation and supporting calm and political solutions to enhance regional security and stability and safeguard the interests of the region’s peoples amid complex challenges.The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen the distinguished relations between Egypt and Oman.

Abdelatty lauded the deep fraternal ties between the two countries and their continued development at various levels, stressing the importance of advancing bilateral cooperation in priority areas to serve the shared interests of both nations.The ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Gaza Strip, where Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts to consolidate and sustain the ceasefire, move to the next phase of the US president’s plan, support the political track, ensure full and unhindered access for humanitarian aid and create the necessary conditions for early recovery and reconstruction.The call also addressed developments related to the Iranian nuclear file.

Abdelatty emphasized the need to continue efforts aimed at de-escalation, confidence-building and creating conditions conducive to diplomatic solutions and the resumption of dialogue to reach a comprehensive agreement that takes into account the interests of all parties and contributes to regional security and stability.
