Egypt repays a total of $38.7 billion in debt during 2024

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly confirmed that the amount of debt due in the coming year will be less than what was paid in 2024.
During the weekly cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, at the New Administrative Capital, Madbouly indicated that Egypt has paid approximately seven billion dollars in debt during November and December, and that the total amount paid in 2024 reached $38.7 billion.
He affirmed that Egypt is committed to fulfilling its obligations and has never defaulted on its payments.
The Prime Minister added that the fourth review with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of the Extended Fund Facility arrangement has been completed, under which Egypt will receive $1.2 billion.
