Egypt-Saudi bilateral talks to take place in Cairo soon

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has agreed to hold political talks in Cairo soon with his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir to tackle bilateral ties, as well as regional and international ties of joint interest.

They will also prepare for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s upcoming visit to Riyadh and King Salman bin abdel Aziz’s visit to Cairo, which were agreed on during the two leaders meeting on the sidelines of the Arab Summit, held in Jordan.

Shoukry spoke with Jubeir on the phone Saturday to discuss bilateral relations and follow up on the meeting of their respective heads of states in Jordan, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid.

Meanwhile, Hussein Haridy, former deputy foreign minister, described the communications as the best response to rumors spread by media about any conflicts between the two countries. He described Saudi Arabia as the cornerstone of the Arab relations. The recent developments show that bilateral ties have not been affected by these rumors, he added.
