Egypt, Sudan discuss promoting cooperation in transport domain

Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transportation Kamel Wazir had talks on Friday 14/11/2025 with Sudanese Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Saif al-Nasr al-Tijani on ways to enhance joint cooperation in various transportation fields.

The meeting, held in the presence of several relevant officials from both sides, was part of the strong and historical ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, the minister affirmed the depth of the relations between the two brotherly countries, noting that Egyptian-Sudanese relations in the transport sector are witnessing significant development at all levels.

He emphasized Egypt’s keenness to support Sudan’s development and infrastructure efforts, with Egyptian companies participating in major developmental projects.

For his part, the Sudanese Minister of Infrastructure and Transport congratulated Wazir on the success of the 6th Smart Transport, Infrastructure, Logistics & Traffic for the Middle East & Africa TransMEA, which witnessed significant international, Arab, and local attendance.

The two parties discussed joint cooperation in roads and bridges, following up on the results of the technical committee formed by Wazir at Sudan’s request to conduct necessary maintenance works for several bridges in Sudan, such as Shabmat and Al-Halfaya.

The Sudanese side expressed gratitude to Wazir for this significant cooperation and rapid response.

The meeting also tackled cooperation between the two sides in river transport, a strategic partnership pillar, especially given the presence of the Nile Valley Authority for River Navigation established between the two countries.

A joint cooperation protocol was signed between the Egyptian General Authority for River Transport, the Nile Valley River Navigation Authority, and the Sudanese River Navigation Authority to develop the current river dock at the vital Wadi Halfa port to facilitate the movement of passengers and goods between the two countries.

The Sudanese side requested to benefit from various training institutes and centers of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport to train Sudanese cadres in different transport fields.

Wazir instructed sending a committee of river transport experts from the Egyptian Regional Institute for River Transport to train Sudanese cadres in Wadi Halfa and to develop a comprehensive training plan to train Sudanese personnel in other transport fields at various training institutes and centers of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport.
