Egypt to receive 850,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine Wednesday

Egypt’s Ministry of Health will receive 850,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Wednesday, Cabinet spokesman Nader Saad said, adding that this is the largest batch of vaccines Egypt has received yet.

During a telephone interview on the  “Cairo Talk” program with presenters Khairy Ramadan and Karima Awad on the Al-Kahera wal Nas channel, Saaid explained that these doses bring Egypt’s total from the International Vaccine Alliance by up to 4.5 million.

He urged elderly citizens and those with chronic diseases to register through the ministry’s website for the coronavirus vaccine, adding that so far only a small amount have signed up.

And Saad warned that new coronavirus symptoms have appeared, which include skin issues and eye infections.

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed announced earlier that the number of coronavirus vaccination centers in the country has increased to 138.

Steps for citizens to obtain the first and second doses of the vaccine begin by registering on the website, ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed said. The eligible groups are divided into three categories, in line with internationally recognized priorities. Users should choose the group to which they belong on the website– medical workers, people with chronic illnesses, or the elderly.
