Egypt’s Minister of Irrigation and Water resources Hany Sewilam had a meeting Tuesday with Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Abdel Moneim Belati to discuss means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the water sector.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the fifth Mediterranean Water Forum, which is held in Tunis from February 5 to 7.
The two sides also reviewed AWARe (Action on Water Adaptation or Resilience) initiative that was launched by Egypt during the COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh in 2022, in partnership with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
They also stressed the necessity of exchanging expertise in the field of wastewater treatment and reuse.
Under the theme “Together for a Shared Water Sobriety,” the three-day forum aims to consolidate cooperation and the exchange of know-how and experience in the field of water management in the Mediterranean while addressing the region’s current challenges, notably climate change.
