
Egypt’s Ambassador to Tunisia Bassem Hassan met with President of Tunisia’s National Council of Regions and Districts Imed Derbali to discuss strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Egypt and Tunisia.
During their meeting, attended by several council members, the two sides hailed the deeply rooted ties between Egypt and Tunisia as well as the steady growth in bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
They expressed their commitment to further developing these ties to serve mutual interests, applauding the outcomes of the 18th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee, held in Cairo in September 2025, and the Egyptian-Tunisian Business Forum, held on the margins of it.
As regards parliamentary cooperation, the two sides expressed their desire to promote cooperation channels between the Egyptian House of Representatives and Senate, and the Tunisian National Council of Regions and Districts.
Hassan highlighted the importance of parliamentary friendship channels as essential mechanisms for bolstering bilateral relations, and creating an effective track for sharing expertise on legislative priorities, coordinating positions at international and regional parliamentary forums on issues of common interest, and supporting shared development aspirations.
Meanwhile, Derbali emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and friendship groups for supporting bilateral relations through organizing more joint meetings and official visits, as well as sharing relevant expertise to align the two countries’ positions on various issues of mutual interest.
