Egypt union takes action against music teacher for reciting Quran with lute

The head of the Holy Quran Reciters Syndicate in Egypt Mohamed Saleh Hashad announced that the union is taking legal action against music teacher Ahmed Hegazy for reciting the Quran using a lute.

During a phone-in with “al-Nahar” satellite channel, on Tuesday evening, Hashad said that the syndicate has the video of the incident and informed its legal advisor to move against Hegazy.

Hashad slammed the video, which has been circulating on social media, which shows Hegazy reciting the Quran while playing his lute accompanied by singers and reciters.

He explained that the purpose of the video was first and foremost to spread fame and money.

“I am saying, stay away from Holy Quran, find something other than the Quran,” Hashad warned, noting that when the Propet Muhammed had the Quran revealed to him by the angel Gabriel the gravity of its sheer importance made him sweat.
