Egypt, US discuss investment opportunities, desalination cooperation

Housing Minister Randa al-Menshawy and US Chargé d’Affaires Robert Silverman discussed on Monday, August 10, 2026, ways to expand bilateral cooperation in housing, urban development and infrastructure.

The talks focused on investment opportunities in Egypt’s new cities and potential cooperation in seawater desalination, including the use of advanced technologies and expertise in the sector.

al-Menshawy said Egypt’s expanding urban development projects offer opportunities for partnerships with US companies and international institutions, helping attract investment and transfer modern technologies.

Silverman expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the Housing Ministry and US companies, citing Egypt’s growing investment opportunities and major urban development projects.

The two sides agreed to maintain coordination and communication in the coming period to explore new areas of joint cooperation.
