EgyptAir plans expansion in 2026 to 85 destinations

EgyptAir has unveiled its new plan for 2026, which includes expanding its network and opening new direct international routes.

This will facilitate travel, reduce flight times, support tourism and trade, and connect Egypt with major global hubs.

EgyptAir is working to add several new international routes, leveraging the modernization of its fleet with modern, long-range aircraft. This will enhance its ability to operate long-haul, nonstop flights, offering passengers more comfortable and efficient travel options.

Among the most prominent routes expected to launch is direct flights between Cairo and the US. EgyptAir is preparing to launch the Cairo-Los Angeles route starting in May 2026, making it one of the longest direct routes in the company’s history.

It will serve the Egyptian community and boost tourism and business travel between the two countries.

The company also plans to launch the Cairo-Chicago route starting in June 2026, with an initial number of weekly flights, in a move aimed at strengthening connectivity with the central US and reducing reliance on transit flights.

Regionally, EgyptAir has already begun operating the Alexandria-Benghazi route since December 2025 with two weekly flights, supporting travel between Egypt and Libya and facilitating travel for passengers and businesspeople.

The expansion plan also includes increasing the number of European and African destinations, while studying the possibility of opening new routes or increasing the frequency of operations on existing routes, with the goal of reaching approximately 85 international destinations from the Cairo International Airport.
