Mahmoud Auf, Egypt's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, cut his vacation short and went to Riyadh on Wednesday to follow-up on the investigation of Ahmed al-Gizawy, the Egyptian lawyer held by Saudi authorities on charges of smuggling drugs.
Auf is meeting with Saudi officials on Saturday to find a way out of the crisis that caused Saudi Arabia to withdraw its ambassador from Cairo.
He stressed the strength of the Egyptian-Saudi relations for hundreds of years, pointing out that all crises that have occurred in the past have been resolved, once the media clamor was over.
