A man cut his wrists on Monday in front of passersby in downtown Cairo.
Investigations and witnesses indicated that the man, using a sharp tool, attempted suicide while a number of protesters were demonstrating before the Supreme Court in the presence of photographers. Witnesses suggested that the man was seeking fame.
The man was taken to hospital in an ambulance for treatment.
A security source told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the man will be questioned to discover the motives behind his attempt.
