Egyptian fashion designer to participate in London Fashion Week

36 year-old Egyptian fashion designer Marwa Sayed Abdel Azim will be showcasing her brand, “359”, at London Fashion Week from September 14 to 17.

The designer won Dubai’s Design and Fashion Council Award for a show held at the beginning of August. The Council awarded her with their sponsorship of 359 at the Fashion Scout London of Spring/Summer 2018, a part of London Fashion Week.

Of six contenders, Abdel Azim, who holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from Dubai’s Arab Academy for Science and Technology, had participated in previous seasons of Dubai’s Fashion show, but was not lucky enough to win the Council’s award.

“I founded the 359 fashion brand in 2014 when I released my first set of designs, called Little Anatomy,” Abdel Azim explained. “It was the beginning of my career in collaboration with Egyptian artist Hany Mahfouz, who is my current partner.”

“Most of my work is inspired by his art,” she continued.

Abdel Azim says that her choice of brand name comes from her aspiration for perfection. “359 is less by one degree than 360 degrees, which symbolizes perfection.”

Abdel Azim is currently the only Egyptian designer who will participate in London’s Fashion Week 2018.

She made several preparations before travelling to London this week, including final touches to her designs, alongside Mahfouz.

“I designed a collection that suits all women who are interested in fashion and wearing nontraditional designs, including clothes that suit hijabi women,” Abdel Azim added.
