The Foreign Minister also held a bilateral meeting on Wednesday, with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, as part of his visit to the UAE capital.

During their meeting, the two ministers affirmed their immense pride in the exceptional relations between Egypt and the UAE, which are built on the bonds of brotherhood and a shared destiny. They particularly highlighted the strong fraternal ties between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

The ministers also discussed the distinguished level of bilateral relations and the mutual desire to further advance and deepen cooperation in various fields, especially in economic, trade, and investment sectors, for the benefit of both peoples.

Minister Abdel Atty praised the UAE’s investment flows into Egypt, particularly the Ras El Hekma and Red Sea development projects, noting that these ventures represent a qualitative leap in the economic partnership between the two sides. He also expressed his hope to enhance relations in the energy, logistics, industrial, and digitalization sectors, capitalizing on Egypt’s favorable investment climate.

Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the regular meetings of the Joint Economic Committee, viewing it as a key institutional framework for advancing economic cooperation. In this context, Minister Abdel Atty confirmed that the Egyptian government continues to implement a comprehensive package of ambitious economic reforms to enhance the private sector’s role, improve the investment climate, and offer tax and customs incentives as part of the “National Investment Strategy 2024–2030.”

Regional crises

Regarding regional issues, the ministers’ discussions were dominated by the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. They agreed on the need to put an end to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza caused by Israeli practices. Minister Abdel Atty expressed his condemnation of the continuous Israeli aggression on Gaza, affirming that the systematic killing and starvation represent a blatant violation of all rules of international law and undermine any chances for a ceasefire and a settlement.

Both ministers also expressed their strong condemnation of the blatant Israeli aggression that targeted the Qatari capital, Doha. They affirmed their full solidarity with the sisterly State of Qatar—its leadership, government, and people—considering the attack an extremely dangerous escalation that cannot be accepted under any pretext. They viewed it as a direct affront to the sovereignty of a sister country that is an integral part of Arab national security, and they completely rejected any aggression against the sovereignty of Arab nations.

The ministers also discussed the situation in Sudan and efforts to resolve the crisis. Minister Abdel Atty emphasized the importance of a ceasefire and ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches all Sudanese people.

The ministers concluded the meeting by affirming their two countries’ commitment to continuous coordination and consultation at the highest levels, as well as active engagement in confronting shared challenges to safeguard Arab national security and strengthen the pillars of regional stability.
