MP Nisreen Omar called on Sunday for implementing regulations regarding the entry of women wearing Niqab into hospitals.
“We must ensure that any woman entering a hospital unveils her face,” she said, and stressed the necessity of implementing iris scans for hospital staff to prevent unauthorized entry.
During a phone interview with the TV channel Hya, Omar referred to a recent incident of a child being kidnapped from a hospital.
The incident went viral on social media and the child was subsequently recovered by Interior Ministry.
She stressed that such incidents are not widespread in Egypt and remain isolated cases.
The MP added that she proposed conducting DNA tests for every child to accurately establish their identity, similar to the footprint currently recorded on birth certificates.
This proposal aims to ensure proper maintaining of lineage, adding that DNA testing should be a fundamental and mandatory requirement within premarital procedures, with the goal of protecting children and ensuring proof of identity.
