
Egyptian wrestler Mohamed Ali Gabr fell just short of securing the bronze medal in the 97kg Greco-Roman wrestling category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In a fiercely contested match against Kyrgyzstan’s Ozor on Tuesday evening, Gabr was ultimately defeated following a 1-1 draw with the the Kyrgyz athlete claiming the final point.
Regardless, Gabr’s journey through the tournament was marked by impressive victories.
Ranked 30th globally, he upset seventh-ranked Serbian Mikhail Kajaja in the round of 16 with a decisive 6-1 score.
He followed this triumph by eliminating Belarus’ formidable Abubakar Khaslakhanau with a 4-1 victory in the quarterfinals.
The 33rd Olympic Games commenced on July 26th, and will conclude on August 11th.
