The Egyptian flag has been flown before the building of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in Canada for the sixth year in a row.
Egyptian Ambassador in Ottawa Ahmed Hafez expressed pleasure over attending the event for the second consecutive year since assuming his post.
The event marks the Egyptian Heritage Month in Ontario, as well as the 72nd anniversary of the July 23 Revolution. It also comes in tandem with celebrating the the 70th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between Egypt and Canada.
Ambassador Hafez, in statements to MENA, affirmed special importance attached by the Egypt, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, to supporting Egyptians abroad and enhancing bonds between them and their homeland.
The event was attended by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario Ted Arnott and Sherif Sabaawy, the first Egyptian MP in Canada.
The Egyptian Heritage Month was proclaimed by an Ontario Parliament bill in 2019 to recognize the important contribution that Egyptian Canadians have made and continue to add to the economic, social and cultural fabric of the east-central Canadian province, which is the home to hundreds of thousands of Egyptian Canadians.
