The Ministry of Interior disclosed the details surrounding a video clip circulated on social media, which showed an individual violently beating a stray dog in the Al-Salam Awal Police Department area of Cairo, an act that sparked widespread indignation among social media users.
In a release, the Ministry of Interior stated that an examination and investigation successfully identified the suspect as a resident of Monufia Governorate, who was promptly arrested.
Upon confrontation, the suspect confessed to committing the act, claiming that the dog had been attacking and barking at him, which prompted him to assault it.
The Ministry confirmed that the necessary legal procedures have been taken in preparation for presenting the defendant to the specialized prosecution office.
