Egypt’s Mufti Shawqi Allam, president of the Supreme Council of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, will take part in “Forum for Building Bridges Between East and West.” that will be held Wednesday 14 at the Trusteeship Council Chamber, United Nations headquarters in New York.
Mufti’s Adviser Ibrahim Negm said in a statement on Monday that Allam’s four days’ visit to New York comes as part of the foreign tours made by the Iftaa House to hold religious interactions with other states.
During the visit, Allam will meet with a number of officials at the UN to extend bridges of cooperation with them, outline the objectives and common programs to enhance inter-cultural exchange with the aim of correcting the wrong image about Islam in the West and countering the phenomena of Islamophobia .
